The night was a much better temperature. We got off to a relatively early start leaving at 10 am. It was a long and hilly day, very tiring. We grabbed a coffee in Rodez, then picnicked in a lovely village square for lunch. The climbing seemed to go on and on. Eventually we were rewarded with a glorious descent with stunning views of the Millau bridge, into St Rome du Tarn where we are now camping right next to the river.
Our journey this time will take us from the industrial city of Clermont Ferrand, out into the wilderness of the Massif Central. Our only bookings are the trains out, and trains home again from Toulouse 12 days later. It has to be Toulouse because only the TGV's on the western side of France have bike spaces. No more dismantling bikes, we are getting too old to carry them!
